Mandu is an old fort on a plateau in Madyha Pradesh. On a plateau? It is the plateau. Mandu is at the edge of a group of hills and plateaus, to which it is connected by a narrow natural causeway; on the other 3.8 sides, its steep slopes provide a great defense against any attacker. And it is big -- fields, streams, lakes, enough land and water to be self sufficient through any siege.
Now, of course, it is largely empty, just a few villages, the ruins, and the eternal fields.
