Custom Guitar Pickup Wiring

Here are some of my custom wiring designs and setups.

LACS RG7

space

I rewired my LA Custom Shop RG7 with a 24 pole superswitch to coil cut the custom wound humbuckers automatically in the 2 and 4 positions, and to give the Tele-style bridge and neck outer coils in the middle position. All combinations except the middle are hum canceling.

I also wired the push/pull tone pot to switch the guitar into a single coil mode using the outer coils of the humbuckers for sharper single coil sounds, and the middle custom DiMarzio single coil, which sounds fantastic.

Mahogany S7

space

I designed this H/S/H wiring scheme for the mahogany Ibanez-style S7 i built myself. With the push/pull switch down, all five positions are the same as my modified version of the Ibanez Special 5-Way wiring scheme, as shown below for my RG7620.

With the switch up, all five positions are changed to a single coil mode that features the humbuckers coil cut, using the outer coils of the humbuckers for sharper single coil sounds, and the middle single coil.

RG 7620

doublespace

I rewired my RG7620 with a 24 pole switch to give the outer coil combination in position 3. All combinations are hum canceling. I also wired the push/pull tone pot to switch the guitar into a single coil mode, using the outer coils of the humbuckers for sharper single coil sounds.

Strat VII

space

I rewired my Strat VII, and the 540S7 I used to own, with Schaller Megaswitches to give the neck single plus outer coil combination in position 3. All combinations, except the neck single coil alone in position 1, are hum canceling.

I also wired a push/pull DPDT tone pot to convert the guitar to an S/S/S pickup configuration in all Megaswitch positions, using the bridge coil of the humbucker for a sharper single coil sound.
