NAKED RAGE was pure improvisation. I was getting out of make-up from Lord of Vinyl when on impulse, after taking off the beard, I started putting on red makeup. How energizing! I kept going, making for myself a new face. An angry face. I felt a lot of raw emotion released and I knew I had to keep shooting pictures.
The experience felt great, like scream therapy. When I was done taking the pictures I wanted to run down the street naked, screaming. Letting everyone know about every wrong ever done me, showing everybody just how engorged with venomous ire I was. Of course I didn't. Even my exhibitionism has its limits!
I don't know if the quality of the pictures match the experience, but I think they're interesting. With his painted-on physique, NAKED RAGE reminds me of William Blake's depictions of Satan, something that suggests interesting possibilities for future self-images.
