Attend The Community Marriage Policy Event
Thursday, May 15th, 2:30 - 5:30 pm
In 51 cities, the clergy of all denominations have joined to create and sign a covenant to strengthen marriage. They pledge to take steps to help couples reach five great goals: avoid a bad marriage before it starts; get "marriage insurance" as engaged couples; strengthen existing marriages; save 80% of deeply troubled ones; and spark reconciliation of the separated or divorced. For example, the clergy in a city might agree to require engaged couples to take a premarital inventory; train couples with solid marriages to mentor engaged couples; recruit couples whose marriages once nearly failed to mentor those in trouble. The motto is this: "What God has joined togehter, the congregation should hold together." The Metro Washington Marriage Policy event will be attended by hundreds of local clergy to forge a policy for this large metropolitan area. Everyone is invited. Come and learn how to organize a Community Marriage Policy in your community. For information, call Mike McManus, 301-469-5870. Registration is $15 and includes the book Marriage Savers.
