BACKGROUND SUMMARY

Prior to starting the consulting business in 1997...

Over twenty years of managing programs and conducting workshops for the development of engineers, scientists and professional administrative personnel in technical organizations

Fourteen years were with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), working agency-wide with senior executives, managers and team leaders in interpersonal skills required to manage and influence other people.

The preceding six years were at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), providing organization, management and career development programs.

... AS A CONSULTANT (1997-Present)

Contributing to organizations' productivity by conducting The Human Element Seminar, Management Training (using 360` Survey Feedback), Team Skills Training, and responding to client needs in public and private organizations, in the U.S. and Europe.

... AT THE NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION (NASA) (1983-1997)

Conducted workshops, of at least a week in duration, for an
average of 650 executives, managers, team leaders and individual contributors every year. Primary content of these workshops includes:

... AT THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF STANDARDS AND TECHNOLOGY (NIST) (1976-1983)

Developed a NIST-specific supervisory development program,
using NIST Functional Managers as instructors.
Led a team of NIST managers and professional outplacement
counselors in reducing the negative impacts of a major downsizing, finding jobs for 96% of the outplaced employees within six months, at salaries equal to or above their NIST salaries.
Conducted a study on the “Profile of a Successful Professional
at NIST,” suggesting behaviors managers could encourage, and employees could initiate.
