Artist Biography

Alice-Marie Gravely is an awarding contemporary abstract artist who works in a variety of media including printmaking, oils, acrylics, watercolor, and painted sculpture.

She holds a Masters in Liberal Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland. For twenty years she explored and expanded the boundaries of corporate film and photography for major companies such as IBM and GTE. For the past ten years she has been a fulltime artist seeking artistic expression in a multitude of media. She has been juried into national shows by outstanding jurors such as the Curator for the Philips Collection and the Assistant Curator for the Women in Arts National Museum, both in Washington, DC., as well as other esteemed critics. Alice-Marie developed her own style - as stated by one newspaper article - "Gravely likes to surprise you with the unexpected, what she did last week is different this week."

Alice-Marie has had several local solo exhibits in the Washington, D.C. area, exhibited nationally, and also has participated in many group exhibits. In the Winter of 2000, Alice-Marie’s work was featured in "Watercolor" magazine, a national publication of American Artists magazine. Her work is exhibited through the Foundry Gallery, Washington, DC.

COVER LETTER

To whom it may concern:

My professional pursuits began almost twenty years ago. For ten years, I had a wonderful career in public relations for high-tech companies; spent the last eight years running my own consulting business in marketing communications/pr; received a Masters Degree from Johns Hopkins; studied art in my spare time and assisted many arts related organizations as a volunteer; and raised two successful human beings to adult-hood.

At 46 years of age, the second part of my life will be as promising as the first. I would like to get into the workforce again, full time, and devote my considerable energy and experience toward making the goals of a company or organization come to fruition.

I have experience running projects, writing a variety of publications from speeches to brochures, traveling to oversee public relations projects, producing in-house video and film for companies; staging spectacular special events; managing a team; being part of a team.

I look forward to meeting with you in the future. Thank you for your time.
