Here are helpful information links for visitors to Washington. They are also useful for long time residents.
How's the traffic? (Unfortunately, the traffic link, which uses maps, requires a graphics enabled browser. It is not text browser friendly, and I haven't found a source for current traffic information that is. But, if it does not work for you, you can assume the bridges and major roads into Washington are crowded during morning and afternoon rush hours. Frequent accidents and breakdowns cause major delays. Rain and snow also slow things down. On the other hand, the Metro rail system moves quickly and is a good bet, if you are going places that are near Metro stations.)
