Toby is a busy fellow. At nearly 16 months old, he's still very puppy-like but with a "big dog" bark.

Not content to stay home and sleep all day like his much older brothers, Toby keeps a busy schedule. Duties as a guest speaker, sightseeing trips, nursing home visits, and rides in the country make Toby quite the dog-about-town.

Toby now has his own business cards. So many people stop to ask about him, he got cards to direct admirers to his website. (His mom is a little jealous because Toby's cards are nicer than her own business cards.)

Despite his travels and growing popularity on the speaker's circuit, Toby has remained humble. Who are we kidding? Toby is full of himself. He has, however, retained his sweet disposition. He loves everyone he meets and tries to bring a smile to each and every face.

Toby's Adventures

Toby had the good fortune to meet Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich at the Frederick Keys' annual Bark in the Park. Toby felt honored that the Governor took time to greet us while the Governor's photographer snapped this picture.

Toby was one of just three dogs invited to participate in the Parade of Volunteers at the 125th anniversary American Red Cross national convention in Washington, DC. He led the Health & Safety Services group as the audience called his name and reached out to pet him. Toby and his mom represented Pet First Aid which his mom teaches for Red Cross.
On one of those perfect fall days, Toby visited Richmond, VA to do a little sightseeing. While the State Capitol was closed for renovations, he strolled along Canal Walk. Here he watches while his dad demonstrates the model showing how canal locks work.
Getting an education and taking a long walk can leave a little guy famished. After the Canal Walk, Toby visited Stony Point Fashion Park, a mall that allows dogs inside many of its stores. Toby was quick to check out a table full of treats at a mall shop specializing in doggie gifts.
What's this! The track of some wild beast?
No! it's the track of Toby the Snow Monster. Toby enjoys snow much more this year. His three-point hop makes it much easier to get around than last year when he was much smaller and could only bounce along on his elbows.
Like the rest of his family, Toby loves ice cream, and he wants every last lick in the carton.
Here Toby has an audience with some of his adoring fans at the Highland Inn in Monterey, VA. Toby was in town to check out the Highland Maple Festival.
Highland County, VA is the southernmost part of the US that makes maple syrup. Toby took a close-up look at one of the buckets that collects sap from the sugar maple. Although he enjoyed the trip, Toby was disappointed he didn't get to join the rest of his family for the pancake and pure maple syrup buffet.
Ready for my close up! Toby relaxes before his next speaking engagement.
And that next engagement was at Mt. Vernon Elementary School in Alexandria, VA. Toby was invited by the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria to speak (WOOF!) to a group of third graders in a program called Animal Magnetism. Oh, his mom got invited, too, to give a talk on pet first aid.
Travel and public speaking engagements can be tiring and time consuming, but Toby always has time and energy for playing with his favorite toy.
