Dry Ash disposal has been one option for disposal of high quantities of ash from coal fired power stations in an environmentally sound manner. The National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) Dadri Super Thermal Power Station near New Delhi, India has used this method, which takes up less space, causes less population displacement, and has less negative environmental impacts than more traditional ash ponds.
