The new resettlement village access roads, and the location of resettlement villages closer to existing highways, created new opportunities to set up small bazars, where virtually each shop had a sign indicating that it was a resettlement agency household economic rehabilitation scheme. There were assemblages of bicycle rental, carpentry, tea, vegetable, jewellry, shoe repair, barber and other specialized small shops in these new bazars. To all extents and purposes these bazars looked like others seen in India, except for the small black signs identifying them as part of the resettlement program. Seen here is a shoe repairman and his shop.
