This is a view of a resettlement village, with the reservoir in the background. These villages, with red tile roofs, had wider spacing between houses than the original villages, better engineered drainage, tube well drinking water systems, modern sanitary conveniences, electrification, shade and fodder trees, and good social service buildings -- schools, medical centers, temples. The higher level of housing, community infrastructure and other social services could be documented through comparison with district-wide, state-wide and nation-wide social indicators as well as with socioeconomic baseline data collected prior to resettlement.
