The
Women's Alliance for Theology, Ethics and Ritual
(WATER) began in 1983 in response to the need for
theological, ethical, and liturgical development
for and by women.
We are a feminist educational center, doing work
locally, nationally and internationally
organizing programs and projects, publications
and workshops, counseling, spiritual direction
and liturgical planning which help people
actualize feminist religious values in the
service of social change.
WATER helps develop inclusive religious and
social communities, and focuses feminist faith on
bringing about social justice.
Mary E. Hunt and Diann L. Neu, WATER's
co-founders and co-directors, anchor the
Alliance. Mary is a feminist theologian and
ethicist who writes and lectures extensively on
liberation issues. Diann is a feminist liturgist
and psychotherapist who develops rituals and
provides counseling for individuals, couples, and
groups.
