Osteological analysis may include the inventory and identification of human remains, the characterization of pathological conditions, population demographic structure and analysis of genetic affiliation.

Forensic anthropological services are targeted at collection of evidence, identification of the decedent considering population affiliation, age, sex, stature and distinguishing traits, and determining time since death.
