Hotel recommendations

There is no official hotel for the convention. As far as we know, there are no hotels or even standard bed-and-breakfasts in Great Falls or the immediate area. However, there may be a few airbnb options, of which we have had no reports. One should consult airbnb directories. However, there are numerous 2- and 3- hotels along the business and commercials areas of Route 7 in the Tysons Corner area and westward toward Dulles Airport. Four are listed below and chosen because of their relatively low rates and known quality, when checked in early March 2010. Look under "special rates" or "promotions" or group discount rates (AAA, senior, government), and check online services such as Expedia.com, Travelocity.com and Orbitz.com. Because the convention dates are in the cherry blossom season (or at least during the Cherry Blossom Festival), cheaper rooms at these hotels during these dates may go quickly.

• Courtyard by Marriott Dulles Town Center, 45500 Majestic Drive, Sterling, Virginia 20166. This hotel is around 8.7 miles from the Great Falls Grange, toward the west. Rates exclude breakfast but include free Internet access. This hotel is rated 3 stars by AAA, Expedia, and Travelocity.
• Hampton Inn Dulles Cascades, 46331 McClellan Way, Sterling, Virginia 20165. This hotel is around 8.2 miles from the Great Falls Grange, toward the west. Hampton Inns offer complimentary hot breakfast and free Internet access. AAA 3 diamonds; Expedia 2 1/2 stars; Travelocity 2 stars.
• Courtyard by Marriott Tysons Corner Fairfax, 1960-A Chain Bridge Road, McLean, Virginia 22102 This hotel is around 6.9 miles from the Great Falls Grange, toward the south-southeast. Rates exclude breakfast but include free Internet access. This hotel is rated 3 stars by AAA, Expedia, and Travelocity.
• Quality Inn Tysons Corner, 1587 Spring Hill, Rd., Vienna, VA 22182. This hotel is around 6.1 miles from the Great Falls Grange in the south-southeastern direction and is more convenient to DC. It is a more basic choice with exterior corridors. It is rated 2 diamonds by AAA, 2 stars by Expedia.com, and 3 stars by Travelocity.com. It has free wireless Internet and continental breakfast.
