I built this neck-thru maple Flying V from a Carvin neck-thru neck blank and two flame maple wings I carved out of an 8/4 maple slab. I stained the whole guitar with a bluewater-soluble stain to highlight the figure in the maple, then brightened the contrast by soaking some of the stain back out with a wet rag. I sprayed the guitar with five coats of laquer and wet-sanded with Micromesh sandpaper. It's got plenty of niggles, but it's not bad for my first build guitar.
