Old Colony Redevelopment - Sep 2000

 On very positive note, our efforts to prevent a 21st century box style office warehouse on the site of the Old Colony are bearing good fruit. A new developer is obtaining the property and has proposed 57 condos for the Motel area below the conference center portion of Old Colony complex. These are 2,000 sq ft, $500,000 units with underground parking and 8 visitor parking spots. Draft concept image are on our web site. Beside the low density of this plan, it seem to be done in a historically appropriate style that saves the carriage house, serpentine wall, swimming pool and rose garden. Members at the meeting voted to support this concept plan.
It is very nice to note this plan calls for a floor to area ratio (FAR) of 1.25 verses 2.5 FAR of the previous proposal. While this is half as dense as the previous proposal - It should offer only less than a 100 cars each rush hour cycle when the other proposal offered thousands.....
