(they were just hangin out and schwillin with us!) one of the most memorable nights in my life, for sure. if anyone can help, i have tons of phish including some fall99's and lots of other music. i'd love ya for it. peace, fernando Oo o >*///>< --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >> Forum: rec.music.phish Subject: Salmonstick: the version of the Meatstick Dance from the LOS show Date: 1999/10/19 Author: Daniel Gold Hey y'all! I saw the funnest Polyethnic Cajun Slamgrass band on the planet recently (Leftover Salmon, 10/11-12/99, Fayetteville, AR). I had the opportunity to puff with their zany lead singer and acoustic guitarist, Vince. One of my questions to him was: what was it like when Trey Anastasio from Phish sat in with Leftover Salmon out in Arizona earlier this year? Many of you may have heard the story already, but apparently Trey was up there playing with Salmon for about five songs, having a great time. Vince was acting typically crazy. If you have seen Leftover Salmon you know that Vince is able to make up new words to songs, and create strange little vocal sounds and yips and "Well, Festival!" cheers that really get the crowd going and are a lot of fun. Trey was playing guitar and checking out Vince's antics. Then, Trey did the motion with his finger swirling near his head, to indicate -- "That guy Vince is crazy!" (You know, the crazy motion?). Some members of the audience, who knew both Leftover Salmon and Phish, assumed Trey was busting out the Meatstick dance, so they picked it up and started doing the Meatstick dance. As you know, the "crazy-head motion" is one of the moves in the Meatstick Dance. The boys in Leftover Salmon love Phish, but of course they have their own tour schedule and they were not aware of the Meatstick dance. So it appeared to them that suddenly part of the crowd and their guest musician were doing some strange new Salmon dance. I guess this was the Salmonstick version of the Meatstick Dance. Next time Leftover Salmon comes to your town, don't miss 'em. If you don't find yourself doing the Meatstick Dance, you will at least find yourself wagging the crazy motion at Vince! By the way, Vince also mentioned that he never really understood what was happening with the dance, until he looked on the Internet after the show and saw what people had posted about it!
