September 1994 to February 1996,
Tested
Microsoft Windows 95 and planning for the deployment at NSF, with special
attention on its impacts on current procedures in the Division of Information
Systems, Technology Evaluation Section.
Implemented and supported the evaluation of a network CD-ROM server.
Launched a CD-ROM mastering pilot and assembled a portable LAN consisting of a
server and 20 laptops. This ran Group
Systems for Windows, a groupware meeting room support package which facilitated
meeting room procedures including comment gathering, voting and reporting.
INDEPENDENT
CONSULTING - June 1994 to September 1994
Participated in project design
and development in Visual C++, Visual Basic and MS Access using Microsoft
Programmer's Workbench (PWB); troubleshot and repaired micro - mainframe
communication and automated EMAIL file distribution system; Installed UNIX, X
windows, UNIX C++ compiler.
LOGICON
OPERATING SYSTEMS - June 1983 to June 1994
January
1990 to June 1994
As a Network Manager,
implemented and specified the node of the corporate WAN (Novell) including the
Internet connection. Designed, coded in
Rexx and tested an automated EHLLAPI-based OS/2 to TSO file retrieval system to
distribute corporate accounting information.
Designed and participated in coding in Visual Basic and MS Access of a
Windows user interface package for display of this accounting information. Participated in implementing of ethernet LAN
including Cabletron hubs and network adapters.
June
1987 to January 1990
As a Senior Technician, Logicon,
designed and developed a distributed front end for a large electronic message
acquisition and distribution system.
Designed and oversaw the configuration management system for this
project. Designed and managed the token
ring LAN development and testing environment.
Developed many programmer tools in Rexx. Programming in Borland C++, Rexx and Microsoft C using IBM
Programmer's Workbench (PWB). Staff of
one or two.
June
1983 to June 1987
Participated in preliminary and
detailed design, development, testing and installation of the above message
system for multiple government computer centers, each with networked IBM
mainframes running VM and MVS. Coded
parts of this system in IBM Assembler Language and C. Wrote many utilities and extensions to the CMS operating system. As a Task leader for a team of four
programmers during development, designed and oversaw implementation of a
production delivery configuration management/problem reporting system. Provided extensive guidance and training to
technical staff. ACF2 administrator.
