Introduction

A feature that makes using a web browser an enjoyable experience is the ability to add color to elements of a page, such as the background and text.

While newer browsers allow the limited use of literal names (e.g., "red," "purple," "green," etc.) in some HTML tags, the specification for those browsers that support color, is to use a hexidecimal coding specification for the red-green-blue combination of elements in the form RGB="#RRGGBB" where each character of the color pair is a value 0-9 and A-F. This results in each color value capable of 256 values (00 through FF).

If this seems confusing or unclear, it's quite understandable. In fact, this page was designed to help make HTML color coding a bit more understandable. The following table displays a number of possible colors based on the values described above. The rendering of them on your screen will depend on the capabilities of your monitor and browser.
