Comics I Love (a.k.a. My Regular Reads)
![[Silver Surfer]](surfer-s.jpg) |
I read a few comic books at someone's house when I was a kid. Although I didn't read comics regularly until I was a sophmore in college, I remember those first few comic books from my childhood (Dr. Strange, Silver Surfer) fondly. This page is a tip of the hat to the good comics that I read now. I read and recommend the comic books below; they all come out at least semi-regularly. I'm not including limited series here, since I update this page so rarely.

How To Find a Good Comic Book
If you're looking to discover great comics, then I recommend these methods, all of which worked well for me. Obviously, all of these methods are hit-and-miss; not every comic is for everyone.
- check out the rack at your local comic book store
- go to the Small Press Expo and visit every table (I go every year it occurs)
- go to the San Diego Comic-Con (I went one year) and - the combined dealer area & artist alley is the size of a small city!
- other comic book conventions (or even, sometimes, general fantasy/science fiction/horror/furry conventions) and comic book "shows"
- investigate Peter Laird's Xeric Foundation's list of comic book creator grants - many talented creators have benefited from the Xeric Foundation's grants
- check out your favorite comics' back pages (or online comics' "links" pages), to see what your favorite creators recommend
