USGS EARTH DAY BIKE-IN
APRIL 25, 1997

Earth Day 1997 is the perfect opportunity for you to try bicycling to
work at the National Center.
BIKE-IN to USGS NATIONAL CENTER
APRIL 25, 1997
Please note new date!!
We've moved the BIKE-IN to Friday because of the damp weather
forecast for this week. We want to make this a positive biking
experience for all, especially newcomers, and Friday is the only day
this week that has a sunny outlook.
The plans remain the same: Ride to the USGS National Center, either in
a group or on your own. Ride leaders will rendezvous with cyclists at
designated times at locations around Reston, Herndon, Fair Oaks, and
Sterling so that people can ride in together.
Ride leaders are:
-
Dave Morganwalp will meet riders at the Fox Mill Giant at 7:40. Dave rides
rain or shine. (All right!)
- Barry Henrikson will meet riders in Sterling at 7:15, near Holly
Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. Barry rides by way of Crestview
to the W&OD trail.
- John Findley will meet riders in Herndon at the train depot or
at the Post Office at 7:00.
- Kerie Hitt and Bruce Wright will meet riders at the South Lakes Shopping Center
Chesapeake Bagel Bakery at 7:30.
- Jim Crowley will meet riders near Rt. 50 and West Ox Road in the
Penderwood/Fair Oaks area at 7:15. There is a place to meet/park in
the parking lot of an office
building on the right side of Rt. 50, just west of West Ox Road. (Go
under West Ox when travelling on Rt. 50.)
- Lee De Cola will meet people at Lake Anne Plaza at 7:30.
- Wayne Lapham will meet people at the former location of the bookstore
in the North Point Shopping Center at 7:00 sharp.
If you plan to meet one of the ride leaders, please contact Kerie Hitt or the
ride leader to confirm
the meeting place and time.
All riders are invited to meet at the flag pole at 8:00
a.m. for bagels and group photo. (BYOWB - bring your own water
bottle.)
Contact Kerie Hitt (x6854; email kjhitt@usgs.gov)...
