Mary Sunbeam, president of Positive Education, Inc., is a member of the Appalachian Nation Cherokee tribe and fondly recognized as Mama Mary by parents and children. Drawing from her experience as a poet,
comedian, storyteller, dancer, herbalist, musician, and educator in cultural diversity/social tribal studies, Mary Sunbeam designs and presents courses on Native American Indian culture, cultural diversity, customer service, nutrition/wellness, storytelling, personal leadership, and conflict resolution. Her clients include schools (preK-12), colleges, scouts, support groups, government/business institutions, spiritual organizations, and Native American Pow Wows.
Mary Sunbeam's work has been acknowledged by the American Association of Community Colleges with an NVCC Model Program Award. She has also received awards from Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C. school systems, and cultural communities. Mama Mary, as she is fondly known, is recognized for "walking her talk". Positive Education, Inc. and Mary Sunbeam are active in promoting the value of cultures, nutrition, and ancestoral reconciliation through classroom education, tutoring, mentoring, consulting, presentations, articles, honorary appearances, and world wide travel.
