FATHER MURPHY’S DONKEY

Fr. Murphy was trying to raise money for his church. One of his friends
told him anyone who owns a race horse made money.

Fr. Murphy took the little money he had and went to a horse auction.
He bought an animal, but it turned out to be a donkey.

Having gotten the animal, Fr. Murphy decided to enter it in a race. The donkey
came in to show. The next day the newspaper carried the headlines,
“Fr. Murphy’s Ass Shows”.

The Archbishop was quite upset and told the priest to keep down the publicity.

The next time the donkey ran it won and the headlines read,
“Fr. Murphy’s Ass Out In Front”. This disturbed the Archbishop even more.

The priest entered the donkey once again and it came in to place. The
headlines were. “Fr. Murphy’s Ass Back In Place”.

The Archbishop was furious, and forbade the priest to run the donkey again.
The headlines the next day were, “Archbishop Scratches Fr. Murphy’s Ass”.

The Pope had a stroke.
