Children are most welcome at the Convention, but parents are
responsible for arranging supervision for their own children. No organized child care will be provided. On Saturday at the Pohick Church, restless young children (under
supervision) can enjoy a mulched playground outdoors next to the singing
hall. On Sunday, children of all ages can enjoy the elaborate playsets on the recently installed $90,000 playground within the county park that encompasses the Great Falls Grange. If weather is inclement, children can play on the lower level of the Grange, accompanied by an adult.
Parental supervision of children, rather than organized childcare, is
the rule at traditional Southern Sacred Harp singings, where children
are exposed, either actively or (more typically) passively, to the sound of the music and
the concept of community hymn singing.
