Red Oak Nightstands

I built these two nightstands from solid red oak and red oak ply, based on the design of an old telephone stand.

The shelves were dadoed into the sides and the kickplate was mounted from behind. The top was biscuit-joined from two pieces and then dadoed onto the sides. The front and side edges on the top, the kickplate edge, and the molding under the top were milled with a beaded round-over.

The doors were built using a different method for each of the two nightstands -- all edges were beaded, but one door was built with mitered corners and the other was built using rails and stiles.
