actual time is a strange intersection of crunchy riffs, chaotic polyrhythms, and odd meters, including diverse elements gathered from jazz, fusion, classical, and metal.

actual time is an instrumental studio project based on theoretical composition of intricate heavy metal. We write and record progressive metal instrumentals that feature heavy, syncopated riffs in polyrhythmic meters.

actual time is:

Scott Andrews - 7 string guitars, tinny wail, dubious melodies, over-saturated compressed high gain, gratuitous effects, and homebrew.

Brad Derrick - drums, bongos, maracas, vibra-slap, timpani, strident noises, space marine death grunts, and knobby tires.

Tom Snyder - 5 string bass, gold Xfilemobile, rice burner crotch rocket, and First Class Air Travel.

The band is pleasantly surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the first CD from small numbers of dedicated fans (really small numbers). At the current rate, the first actual time CD will go platinum about the time the sun expands into a red giant star and engulfs the earth.
