A Personal Computer or Mac with a modem, a fax machine, a VCR player and Monitor, and a speaker phone or Sound Station for audio-conferences are all the equipment needed for the courses. Videoconferencing equipment will be arranged.
The modem is needed to access Internet or other E-mail for messages and file transfer to and from the T/TI Home Page on the World Wide Web. Videoconferencing will require a kit for the PC or Mac which will be provided by T/TI--ShareVision which operates over a single analog line between one class and the faculty, or CUSeeMe which operates over the Internet with several sites. Where ISDN is available, we will use other PC based multimedia teleconferencing.
Technical courses also include innovative computer based training tailored for each course produced by TELETUTOR and telecommunications firms supporting T/TI's Distance Learning program. They provide the individualized instruction and complement the lectures, readings, and group assignments. The disks for the course will be sent to Course Administrators.
