The DNA is doing its thing...

We just got our latest set of pictures back, and had a very hard time picking only a few of them for this site. Our DNA has apparently taken hold and is shaking us around, making us certain that everyone wants to see all these pictures of our child....

smiling baby, how can you not click this?

Here are pictures of our son, Justin Thompson Wayland, taken when he was from 3 to 9 weeks old.

New Pictures

Justin's Wayland grandparents came to visit him in March. The first one is Grandpa Wayland with his grandson.

Grandpa Wayland

Justin's grandmother does not think we take enough pictures of our son. Here she is attempting to make up for the paucity of pictures during her visit. Alan is enjoying the camera, as usual.

is this for real?

Justin has graduated from hating his diaper changes to loving them. Here he is in one of our favorite Happy Baby poses. The outfit is courtesy of our friends Roland and Alison who live in the California Bay Area and share our love of fine wine.

Change it again!

How does Justin entertain himself these days? He is unable to move his body (being in the "inert" stage of babyhood), but he can really move his arms. A friend of Sarah's suggested tying a helium-filled mylar balloon to his wrist. The changing light as reflected from the balloon is very interesting to his developing visual system, and he can move the image by jerking his arm around. This has been a favorite game for three weeks now.

aren't you glad you can move?

Finally, we have Justin's opium den. Here we have strung up Justin's favorite toy (other than his balloon) to the side of his baby swing. This toy is called a Whoozit and we highly recommend it. The black and white patterned legs are apparently very interesting to look at, and end with all sorts of toys. The yellow stars are rattles, there are pink rings for grabbing, red hearts that squeak when you squeeze them and a green triangle that crinkles when you rub it. The balloon is tied to his left wrist, and he is having a BLAST!

I want someone to cater to me this way!
