Mark Vann at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 1996. Looks like a Rich Taylor advert to me!

Wow, them BT boyz must be eatin' REAL good! (Especially that Popper feller in the front playin' the harmonica thing...) What a jam that must have been!

Here's what Christina Ciesiel had to say about the BT-Salmon show on the Leftover List:
Date: Sat, 02 Jan 1999 18:52:36 -0600 From: GottaBoogie2 <chrisran@mwci.net> To: "leftover@lists.colorado.edu" <leftover@lists.colorado.edu> Subject: New Years run Boy Howdy everyone! (setlists included) I'm just getting conscious after the totally bitchin' New Year's extravaganza. Fear not fellow LoSers! Vince and crew came out and kicked some serious slamgr-ASS! They danced me solid both nights. I was up in front on Drew's side (always!), just between Vince and Drew. The Aragon Ballroom is a 4000 capacity venue, just off the lake, north of downtown Chicago. In it's heyday (or is that hayday??) it was a very fancy, white glove, homecoming etc., fancy-dance type ballroom. Trivia: My husband's mom went to her prom there. It has a "floating" wooden dance floor (way cool) which is surrounded by a balconey on all three sides and the stage at one end. There is beautiful arabian style gold and plaster designs on the wall and balconies. Off the dance floor are arches to the area off the dance floor and the bars. The black ceiling still has several twinkling lights left that work. It was cold - about 20 out, Weds. 12-30 as we got in line for doors to open. The all ages show started at about 7:30 with everyone's favorite band... LEFTOVER SALMON! yaaaaaaay... OK, Setlists 12-30-98 Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL Whaddya Gonna Do Zombie Jamboree Green Thing Whiskey For Brkfst-> Goin Over That Waterfall Midnight Blues - - Vince announced they would play Tu nas P'as Aller but then Drew's fiddle was out of commision. They never did play it :( - - Ain't Gonna Work Tomorrow Shame & Scandal Baby Hold On Up On the Hill Boogie Whisperin Waters :)sweeeeeet Walkin' Cane (not sure this is the name but they kept saying that over and over) Earl's Breakdown (? I agree this may have been but i'm not sure) Headbag Rankin' Full Stop Sittin On Top of the World 1:13 Thursday, 12-31, it was 14 out as we stood in line to get in and see the show, hopping about in anticipation and to stay warm! The show kicked off at 8:55. 12-31-98 NEW YEAR'S EVE Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL Euphoria Jokester Bend in the River (?) Y'all Come (& see us when you can) Breakin' Through Mama Boulet Doin' My Time River's Risin' Another Way to Turn (is this the name of drew's new tune?) Boo Boo The Thing that the Doctor Ordered Me Jam (?) FOGDOWN!! This is the Time w/Drift Away Better 1:20 As always, setlist correction/addition requested. All us LoSers had a great time and danced all around. It was nice to see lots of familiar faces there :) I wore a LoS shirt and tried to say hi to everyone else i saw with one on too. The first night only 2000 or so tickets were sold, so the place was pretty roomy. Of course, New Year's Eve was a sold out show. They seemed to have stayed away from alot of weeeeeed references, but the crowd was already risin up! Night 1, someone tossed a TYE-died, TY, beanie bear onstage and Vince gave it to Tye. Later, someone tossed either a bear or a wig (something brown and fuzzy was all i could see) up by Mark and Tye. Apparently it wasn't too interesting cause Mark booted it offstage. Apt was really jammin and tossed a drum stick in the air, way high, and smoothly caught it and i was impressed. He did it again and just then, the stage lights came down to dark and he lost it and it came down and conked Tye in the head. When the lights came back on Tye was holding his eye, but was only yanking Apt's chain and didn't really lose an eye. For New Year's Mark looked quite dapper in a cool shirt and tophat. Drew had on a really cool black button up shirt with orange and yellow fish printed all over it. hehe - cool. Vince, surprisingly, wore blue jeans both nights. (sarcasm here) Anyone who is interested in the BT list can e me for it. It does include a "Devil Went Down to Georgia" from the 2nd night with Drew on the white 420 fiddle and Mark both sitting in with the Blues Traveler. It was fun. I only wish there had been more musical cross pollination! Luckily, this 18 inches of snow we're getting now held out until late on New Year's day and all us freaks were able to get safely out of the city. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!! It was great to see you LoSers there and great to dance dance dance and show those BT fans how we BOOGIE slamgrass style!! Peace, Pasta and a bigass shovel, Christina
