Most of Bangladesh is a river delta, as the Ganga river splits into thousands of branches, spilling into the sea at the "Mouths of the Ganges"
We went to see an old palace by the river, and took a half-hour rowboat excursion. The river is teeming with boats of all kinds, from little rowboats like ours to huge ferry boats that carry thousands of people and heavy cargo ships. But the most common were like these in the picture, wooden caravels with living quarters built high on the stern, looking like some diesel-powered 17th century relic.
