The Blackistones of Maryland traces on prominent family from England, to the first settlement in Maryland in the early 17th century, to twenty-first century Blackistones. Family members throughout the generations fought in every war beginning with the American Revolution, served at high levels of state government including the first colonial governor of Maryland, and thrived in business. The family maintains a portion of the original land grant for River Springs Farm on the Potomac River to this day.
