We got to Hampi by driving up, over the Western Ghats, from the beach in south Goa. It's a nice drive. Most people don't actually stay in Hampi, but in Hospet, a town nearby. It's a nice drive over to Hampi, by autorickshaw, though the driver was very eager to show us other local sights such as the dam. Hampi has two parts, the temple section and the royal enclave. In both parts, very little is left: a few granite temples, a few granite palaces, a lot of building foundations, and two "bazaars", of which more later.
That's me in the picture, just this once, at one of the temples.
