Sule Bazaar is thought to have been a big street with shops lining either side. Certainly, it looks that way. Hampi Bazaar is exactly the same, only the little granite cubicles down either side of the street have been partially repopulated with little shops. Plus ça change.... A friend in Nepal blamed the profusion of bad buildings on invasions of Bihari architects, incapable of building anything more imaginative than a box, but seeing Hampi makes me wonder.
