A zanana is a ladies enclosure, where the ladies of the court would remain in discrete seclusion. The wall of the zanana are high, but not strong, getting progressively narrower the higher up you look. It and the watchtower were there for privacy, not for defense.
At this spot, we had a refreshing drink of coconut milk, the top chopped off the large green coconuts and a handy straw inserted. Very refreshing, and no doubt full of lots of minerals to replace what one loses in perspiration.
