The next day we visited Patan, Kathmandu's sister city across the river. Aingeal met a very interesting man, Kanak Mani Dixit, who publishes HIMAL magazine. Aingeal bought a copy to check it out, and it's great. So is Kanak, who gives us tea in his office and loans us a printers draft of a walking guide to Patan he's written, to be published in about a month by the Patan Tourism Development Council. We do the walk. The only problem with the guide is that the map is missing, but it's so well written that we don't need the map.
Note [3/99]: I see that Patan is a member of the Organization of World Heritage Cities. If you're looking for information about Nepal, you might start with the Nepal Home Page.
